HPE Storage SAN Director Switch
HPE Storage SAN Extension Switch B-series SN4000B
No affected releases provided.
No fixed releases provided.
An Internet Protocol (IP) Extension enabled tunnel, which is carrying IP Extension traffic that is bouncing frequently may lead to a condition where the IP Extension traffic can no longer pass through even though the tunnel is up. This issue is due to a rare timing condition potentially encountered during a tunnel bounce. Any IP Extension enabled tunnels running on firmware older than Fabric OS (FOS) v8.0.1 are susceptible to this issue if they are running in an environment with frequent tunnel bounce events.
This issue affects the HPE StoreFabric SN4000B SAN Extension Switch and SN8600B 32 Gb SAN Extension Blade when using IP Extension tunnels.
To recover from the failing condition, the affected HPE StoreFabric SN4000B SAN Extension Switch or SN8600B 32 Gb SAN Extension Blade must be rebooted. HPE recommends that all customers who have IP extension-enabled tunnels configured upgrade to a recommended Target Path code version above the FOS v8.0.1 code level. At the time of publication, these recommended code versions would be FOS v8.0.2b for FICON environments and FOS v8.0.2c for Open Systems environments. The issue has been addressed in FOS 8.0.1 and later with Defect000651310. WORKAROUND Ensure the IP network is clean and stable to avoid tunneled bounce events.
