On certain HPE ProLiant servers running VMware ESXi6.0 U1, VMware ESXi6.0 U2 or VMware ESXi 6.0 U3 with the vmklinux drivers igb: 5.3.3, ixgbe:4.5.1 and i40e:2.0.6, and configured with any of the network adapters listed in the Scope section below, the HPE Intel Online Firmware Upgrade Utility for VMware version 3.1.11 (also known as the Intel Firmware component CP031546.zip) may not be listed at the review page in the Post-Production Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) Version Gen8.0 and post production Gen7.1 Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP), due to driver compatibility issues.

Resolution
Download and install the HPE Intel Online Firmware Upgrade Utility for VMware Version 3.4.18(12 Jul 2017): http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_f7925de482124e84a5521b5c8d To install the HPE Intel Online Firmware Upgrade Utility standalone component, perform the following steps: Login as root. (You must be root in order to apply the update.) Place the Smart Component (CPxxxxxx.zip) in a temporary directory From the same directory, unzip the Smart Component: unzip CPxxxxxx.zip Ensure that the file CPxxxxxx.vmexe is executable. Execute the commmand: chmod +x CPxxxxxx.vmexe To perform the standalone installation, execute the command: ./CPxxxxxx.vmexe Follow the directions given by the Smart Component Reboot the system for firmware update to take effect RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES : Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HPE Subscriber's Choice.
