Description:

Info

When a single core blade is reset (reseated, replaced, or power cycled) on an HPE StoreFabric SN8600B Director Switch with an HPE StoreFabric SN8600B 32 Gb 48-port Fibre Channel Blade installed, and the director has previously been upgraded or downgraded between Fabric OS (FOS) v8.0.x and v8.1.x, some backend routes between the core blade and the HPE StoreFabric SN8600B 32Gb 48-port Fibre Channel Blade may be adversely impacted. Devices may also lose connections through Inter-Chassis Links (ICLs). You might observe minor overall performance degradation, or you might encounter device connection failures if the ICLs are present.

Scope

This issue ONLY impacts the HPE StoreFabric SN8600B Director Switch with HPE StoreFabric SN8600B 32Gb 48-port Fibre Channel Blade installed if the director has previously been upgraded or downgraded between FOS v8.0.x and v8.1.x. The issue may ONLY be encountered upon an individual core blade reset and may not occur every time. Any HPE StoreFabric SN8600B Director Switch that has not gone through an upgrade or downgrade between FOS v8.0.x and v8.1.0 is not impacted. Any HPE StoreFabric SN8600B Director Switch that has been powered off and on or rebooted following an upgrade or downgrade between FOS v8.0.x and v8.1.x is not susceptible to this issue until the HPE StoreFabric SN8600B Director Switch is subsequently upgraded or downgraded between FOS v8.0.x and v8.1.x again.

Resolution

If the HPE StoreFabric SN8600B Director Switch is not impacted by missing routes, upgrade to FOS v8.1.2a or later. If the HPE StoreFabric SN8600B Director Switch is impacted by missing routes, the workaround must be performed before upgrading to FOS v8.1.2a or later. WORKAROUND Schedule a maintenance window and perform one of the following actions: Simultaneously reset both core blades. Or Cold reboot or power cycle the HPE StoreFabric SN8600B Director Switch.
