Info

IMPORTANT: This drive firmware is considered a critical fix and is required to address the issue detailed below. HPE strongly recommends immediate application of this critical fix. Neglecting to perform the required action could leave the server in an unstable condition, which could potentially result in sub-optimal server performance or data loss. By disregarding this notification and not performing the recommended resolution, the customer accepts the risk of incurring future related errors. On certain NVMe/PCIe Solid State Drive (SSD) models listed in the Scope section below, the HPK2 firmware improves drive reliability. The SSDs may become unresponsive when they are at a firmware release prior to version HPK2. Important: Once HPK2 firmware is updated on the SSD, firmware cannot be downgraded to version HPK0.

Scope

Any of the HPE ProLiant or Apollo Servers listed under the Hardware Platforms Affected section configured with the following HPE SSD models with HPK0 firmware installed: HPE Model Number Option Kit Description EO000375KWJUC 878014-B21 HPE 375GB NVMe x4 Lanes Write Intensive SFF (2.5in) SCN SSD ET000750KWJTF 878038-B21 HPE 750GB PCIe x4 Lanes Write Intensive HHHL Card

Resolution

To prevent the issue described above from occurring, upgrade the drive firmware to version HPK2. Obtain firmware HPK2 by clicking the following link: https://www.hpe.com/global/swpublishing/MTX-9ce0a35b55bc4832959cba3eb1 . Release Notes Issues Fixed After a warm reboot, the drive would fail to be recognized. A drive would become non-functional due to a disabled logic state that resulted from a vSAN PCIe Advance Error Reporting issue where device registers were accessed before they became ready. NOTE: Products sold prior to the November 1, 2015 separation of Hewlett-Packard Company into Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company and HP Inc. may have older product names and model numbers that differ from current models.
