Info

Document Version Release Date Details 2 04/14/2021 Added a CLI command Note and paragraph to the Resolution section. 1 04/26/2019 Original Document. In order to establish a 10G link and prevent link flapping of the 568 FLR adapters when connected to HPE M-series switches, a configuration change is required. This configuration change avoids the 568 FLR NIC link reset timing race condition during negotiation with an M-series switch and the 568 FLR mishandling of the IEEE 802 standard Clause 73 DME pages, which are exchanged during link bring up.

Scope

The following HPE M-Series switches are affected by this advisory: HPE SN2010M Switch HPE SN2100M Switch HPE SN2410M Switch HPE SN2410bM Switch HPE SN2700M Switch HPE SN3700M Switch HPE SN3700cM Switch HPE SN4600cM Switch

Resolution

When using the 568 FLR adapters listed below, a configuration is required with the CLI (not the GUI) to enable the link to appear on the M-series switch by using the CLI command as follows: #speed 10G no-autoneg force HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 568FLR-SFP+ Media ModuleAdapter (Part no: 866467-B21) HPE XL1x0r Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 568FLR-MMT Adapter(Part no: 868227-B21) For example: interface ethernet 1/1 speed 10G no-autoneg force Or a range: interface ethernet 1/1-1/n speed 10G no-autoneg force , where n = the end of range port number NOTE : Previous to ONYX version 3.6.8200, the port speed must first be set to 1G before setting the speed to 10G no-autonegotiation. Also, unchecking the check box from the switch GUI does not take the expected no-autoneg action; hence the CLI must be used. For Example: interface Ethernet 1/1 speed 1G force interface ethernet 1/1 speed 10G no-autoneg force In the versions of ONYX 3.9.0612 and 3.9.1306, HPE modified the auto-neg feature for all pluggables and moved the no-autoneg command to an fae command. However, some 10G connected devices do not interoperate with auto-neg. If no-autoneg is required, use the fae command below to disable auto negotiation. (config)# fae interface ethernet 1/n speed 10G no-autoneg With ONYX 3.9.2110 the CLI was restored and also when ONYX is updated, it will rewrite the fae command to a cli command in the running config file.
