Document Version Release Date Details 2 19 November 2019 Removed the reference to the CVR fix in the Resolution section 1 16 August 2019 Original Document Release The HPE 10GbE SR B-series SFP+ Transceiver, HPE 10GbE LR B-series SFP+ Transceiver and HPE B-series 1GbE Copper SFP may report as an invalid SFP (mod_inv) in the HPE SN4000B Power Pack+ SAN Extension Switch or HPE StoreFabric SN8600B 32Gb SAN Extension Blade when the switch is running Fabric OS (FOS) v8.2.1, v8.2.1a, v8.2.1b or v8.2.1c. This is due to the SFP validation check not listing these SFP as valid optics.

Scope

The following products: AP823A - HPE 10GbE SR B-series SFP+ Transceiver AP824A - HPE 10GbE LR B-series SFP+ Transceiver AW537A - HPE B-series 1GbE Copper SFP 1 Pack in the SN4000B Power Pack+ SAN Extension Switch HPE StoreFabric SN8600B 32Gb SAN Extension Blade are affected by this issue when the switch is running FOS v8.2.1, v8.2.1a, v8.2.1b or v8.2.1c. NOTE : This is not an issue with FOS v8.2.0b or earlier.

Resolution

To avoid this issue, the HPE StoreFabric SN8600B SAN Director with an HPE StoreFabric SN8600B 32Gb SAN Extension Blade installed or the HPE StoreFabric SN4000B Power Pack+ SAN Extension Switch must be upgraded from FOS v8.1.x or 8.2.0x to FOS v8.2.2 or later. NOTE : If an affected FOS v8.2.1x is installed on the switch and the issue is seen, the Workaround below must be run to remedy the issue. Workaround A switch that has been upgraded to an affected version of FOS v8.2.1x can be upgraded to production level v8.2.2 or later, or downgraded to v8.2.0b or earlier. Following the FOS upgrade or downgrade, the SFP must be reseated (unplugged and then plugged back in), or a full chassis reboot must be performed to revalidate the SFP. NOTE : A chassis reboot is a disruptive operation.
