On an HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen10 or Gen10 Plus server, when the Advance Host Controller Interface (AHCI) mode or Intel Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) mode of the HPE Embedded Storage control is configured, the speed of fan reaches 31% (or above). If it is Dynamic Smart Array RAID of the HPE Embedded Storage control being configured, the fan speed remains between 6% and 8% for all three fans. A sensor called "AHCI HD Max" that reports temperature readings of the drive in AHCI mode and controls the fan speed. This "AHCI HD Max" sensor controls fan speed when Agentless Management Service (iLO 5) is running.
Any HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen10 or Gen10 Plus server when the Advance Host Controller Interface (AHCI) or Intel VROC mode of the HPE Embedded Storage control is configured.
To avoid the high fan speed, install the Agentless Management Service which includes iLO 5. The "AHCI HD Max" sensor would be presenting, then reporting temperature readings of the drive and controlling the fan speed accordingly. The fan speed remains between 6% and 8% for all three fans from the concern of high fan speed (above 30%) once Agentless Management Service is installed. Install the appropriate HPE Agentless Management Service (AMS) for each supported operating system, available at the HPE Support Center . To verify if AMS is correctly installed, click here .
