Document Version Release Date Details 2 March 8, 2024 Updated the Resolution section with Mellanox adapter driver version 4.9.0.1.7.1, which contains the fix 1 November 20, 2019 Original Document Release When using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.7 as the host OS, the Single Root Input/Output Virtualization (SR-IOV) does not function. The Virtual Function (VF) port cannot obtain an IP after creating VFs on a Guest OS with Mellanox adapter driver version 4.7-0.2.9.
Scope
Any HPE system using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.7 as the host OS for SRIOV functionality with any of the following network adapters: HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port SFP+ MCX4621A-ACAB OCP3 HPE Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 MCX512F-ACAT Adapter HPE Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 MCX562A-ACAI OCP3 Adapter HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port SFP+ MCX4121A-XCAT Adapter HPE Ethernet 100Gb 2-Port QSFP28 MCX516A-CCAT Adapter
Resolution
This issue is fixed in Mellanox adapter driver version 4.9.0.1.7.1. As a workaround, use Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 or Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.6 instead of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.7 as host OS for SR-IOV functionality.
