The primary purpose of the update is to ensure that customers are aware of the issue and take action, immediately if action has not already been taken. 1 December 20, 2019 Original Document Release. IMPORTANT : As communicated in the Customer Bulletin a00092491 , the firmware fix for this issue is considered a critical fix and is required to prevent drive failure at 32,768 hours of operation. HPE strongly recommends to run the script listed in the Resolution section of this bulletin and follow the recommendations provided by the tool. By disregarding this notification and not performing the recommended resolution, the customer accepts the risk of incurring future-related errors. HPE was notified by a Solid State Drive (SSD) manufacturer of a firmware defect affecting certain SAS SSD models used in a number of HPE Solutions for SAP HANA listed in the Scope below. Scope

Important: This bulletin covers HPE ConvergedSystems for SAP HANA (CS500 and CS900) and HPE Predefined Configurations with HPE COE Service for SAP HANA. For other HPE Solutions for SAP HANA including Solution Blocks (TDI), Base Configurations or Predefined Configurations without HPE COE Service for SAP HANA, please follow the HPE SAS Solid State Drives bulletin referenced above. Certain HPE ConvergedSystems for SAP HANA and some HPE Predefined Configurations with the HPE COE Service for SAP HANA use SSDs that have the potential of being exposed. Resolution

Run the checkSSDPoH script on the identified HPE Solutions for SAP HANA in order to determine the solution's exposure to this issue. The checkSSDPoH script can be found in the following website: HTTPS Access: https://ftp.ext.hpe.com/hprc Login: ssdpoh Password: Ex.registry$2023 The following files are available for download: checkSSDPoH-1.0-1.tgz checkSSDPoH-1.0-1.md5sum checkSSDPoH-1.0-1.ReleaseNotes.txt The checkSSDPoH script will return one of the following outcomes. Follow the instructions provided by the script:: Overall Risk Risk Action None None None Low Low Schedule a CSUR Update Service. Note: The issue will be addressed with the customer's next HPE CSUR Update Service. The fix is available now in CSUR 2019.11. HPE recommends customers engage HPE for HPE CSUR Update Service at least once per year.
