On any of the HPE Gen10 systems mentioned in the Scope section below configured with a Pensando DSP DSC-2510/25G 2p SFP28 network card, after updating the card firmware to version 1.12.0 with the smart component "Pensando DSP DSC-25 10/25G 2p SFP28 Card Online Firmware Upgrade Utility for Linux x86_64 version 1.12.0-E," it is not possible to downgrade to the previous version 1.8.0 with smart component "Pensando DSP DSC-25 10/25G 2p SFP28 Card Online Firmware Upgrade Utility for Linux x86_64 version 1.8.0-E." Once the firmware is updated to version 1.12.0, if a firmware downgrade is attempted, the utility will show an incorrect firmware version (0.0.0), preventing it from being able to perform the downgrade:

As workaround, go to the Pensando Downloads web site and follow the steps below to downgrade the firmware: 1. Extract the firmware image from the HPE Smart Component. Then, put the firmware image and penctl in the same folder. 2. Get the PCI bus info of the management device. 3. Set management IP() ifconfig interface 169.254.&bus.2/24 export NAPLES_URL=http://169.254.$bus.1 4.
