For any HPE ProLiant Gen10 server, 16Gb-die technology DIMMs are only supported on Intel Cascade Lake processors. With Intel Cascade Lake processors, these DIMMs boot properly. When these DIMMs are installed on an Intel Skylake processor, the Memory Reference Code (MRC) stops responding with a fatal error. This fatal error is properly logged to the Integrated Management Log (IML) as shown below: Unsupported DIMM configuration Detected: Processor "X" DIMM "X" is not supported in the system. (Major Code:000000E8, Minor Code:00000002) This causes the system to stop responding during Power-On Self-Test (POST) without an error message displayed.
