Info

Document Version Release Date Details 2 April 3, 2024 The Resolution was updated with the firmware that resolves this issue. 1 October 7, 2020 Original Document Release. When performing a network setup for an HPE Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) module under Settings->Network->Domain->More->Hostname, an issue can be experienced when a digit (number) is used in the first position. For example, the combination UPS+MAC works correctly, but the combination 1ups+MAC cannot be saved because the button is grayed out. The official documentation indicates that for the hostname, the maximum possible parameters are 128, but does not indicate what the standard hostname naming convention should be. This condition has been observed with Internet Explorer (IE), Firefox, and Google Chrome.

Scope

Any HPE Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) with a network card using a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN). Note: This issue was reported on an HPE UPS 6000 with an HPE Single Phase 1Gb UPS Network Management Module (Q1C17A): HPE G2 R6000/60309 3-wire 32A/230V Outlets (4) C13 (4) C19 (1) IEC 32A/3U Rackmount INTL UPS (Q7G11A)

Resolution

This issue is resolved in HPE Single Phase 1Gb UPS with Network Management Module (Q1C17A) Firmware Version 2.2.11 (or later) . Workaround Do not use a digit in the first position of the hostname. The hostname is the domain server name. Note: The use of a digit in the first position of the host name is an industry standard that has been allowed since 2014 per networking naming conventions.
