Document Version Release Date Details 2 March 12, 2024 The Resolution was updated with the version of smartpqi driver that resolves this issue. 1 May 27, 2021 Original Document Release. On any HPE ProLiant server or HPE Synergy Compute Module running VMware ESXi 6.5, VMware ESXi 6.7 or VMware ESXi 7.0, and configured with any of the following HPE Smart Array SR Gen10 Controllers or HPE SmartRAID Gen10 Plus Controllers with smartpqi driver version 65.4054.2.118, 67.4054.2.118, or 70.4054.2.118; a "DEVICE Reset in Progress" message will be logged in the vmkernel.log for every new I/O command when the device is performing a LUN reset: "pqisrc_reject_if_device_unavailable:1361: DEVICE Reset inProgress(CX:TX:LX)"

Resolution
To resolve this issue, download and install the smartpqi version 70.4150.0.119 (or later) available at the following URL: HPE ProLiant Gen10 Smart Array and Gen10 Plus Smart RAID Controller Driver for VMware vSphere 7.0 (Bundle file) Version 70.4150.0.119 (or later) As a workaround, do not send LUN reset command to hot devices.
