HPE StoreEver ESL G3 and MSL Tape Libraries with HPE LTO-7 (or later) Ultrium Tape Drives connected to ports on an HPE B-series 16 Gb and 32 Gb fibre channel switch requires having the non-DFE setting enabled on the port. The following issues may be seen if this setting is not enabled: Cyclic redundancy check (CRC) errors Switch port goes to an offline state resulting in disruption to normal fibre channel traffic Slower performance than expected
This issue is affected by the following product groups: HPE StoreEver MSL 1/8 G2, MSL 2024, 3040, 4048, 8048, 8096,and 6480 with half-height (HH) LTO-7 Ultrium Fibre Channel Tape Drives or later connected to HPE B-series 16 Gb and 32 Gb fibre channel switches or Brocade Gen5 16 Gb and Gen6 32 Gb fibre channel switches HPE StoreEver ESL G3 Tape Libraries with full-height (FH) LTO-7 Ultrium fibre channel tape drives or later connected to HPE B-series 16Gb and 32 Gb fibre channel switches or Brocade Gen5 16 Gb and Gen6 32 Gb fibre channel switches
Download and install HPE B-series Fabric OS (FOS) 8.1.2k or later for 16 Gb switches and 8.2.3 or later for 32 Gb (or later) switches. Supported versions of the fibre channel switch software can be found in the HPE StoreEver Compatibility Matrix . Disable the DFE option using the following instructions: Set the port to a fixed 8 Gb speed. portcfgspeed [Slot/]Port[-Port] Enable NON-DFE. portcfgnondfe -enable [Slot/]Port[-Port] If the above resolution does not resolve this issue, set the fibre channel port speed to 4 Gb: portcfgspeed [Slot/]Port[-Port] 4 RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES : Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively in your e-mail through HPE Support Alerts.
