Document Version Release Date Details 2 March 22, 2024 The Resolution was updated with the Driver that resolves this issue. 1 June 30, 2021 Original Document Release. On any HPE platform running Microsoft Windows Server 2016 or Microsoft Windows Server 2019 in a Hyper-V environment and configured with any of the HPE Host Bus Adapters with the QLogic Storport Driver for Microsoft Windows Server Version 9.4.2.20 listed in the Scope section below; a " Bug Check 0x9F: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE " event may be experienced during the shutdown process. This issue occurs when virtual fibre channel ports are configured for the Virtual machines communicating with a sequential access storage device (tape) over the HPE Host Bus Adapters. This occurs due to the fact that the Windows driver for the HBAs did not set the target device to an offline state prior to deleting the virtual port as part of the shutdown process. This will cause IOs to be put in the retry queue and eventually completed with a SELECTION_TIMEOUT, leading to the driver failing to complete a power IRP within a specific time, causing a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and/or a Bug check event 9F.
