On an HPE system, prior to booting OS and without HPE Agentless Management Service (AMS) running, the HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) Integrated Management Log (IML) displays the expected link events for Port 1 and Port 2 of the Pensando Distributed Services Platform DSC card. However, after AMS is installed and running, all of the following occur: With firmware version 1.14.2, Pensando Distributed Services Platform DSC-25 Enterprise 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 Card is recognized as duplicate devices and is displayed two times as "Port 1" in iLO 5 Although the IML events continue to be unique (not stacked), the text for the events displays "Port 1" regardless if the specific event was applicable to Port 2. The information displayed on the iLO 5 SystemInformation->NIC Information page also displays both ports as "Port 1" although it does display the unique MAC address for each. IML does not report certain Pensando Distributed Services Platform DSC card events for example, when removing/reinserting cable on single port. Only the removal events are displayed and the restore state is not displayed.
Any HPE system running AMS and configured with any of the following Pensando Distributed Services Platform DSC cards: Pensando Distributed Services Platform DSC-100 Enterprise 100Gb 2-port QSFP28 Card Pensando Distributed Services Platform DSC-25 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 Card Pensando Distributed Services Platform for HPE iLO Sideband Management Adaptive LOM Module This is non-OS specific.
As a workaround, use the following: When AMS is not running, the iLO 5 IML events and iLO 5 NIC information will function as expected. The iLO 5 Integration CPLD register that is communicating the link status from the Pensando Distributed Services Platform DSC card to iLO 5 over i2c reports the correct link status for Port 1 and Port 2. AMS is interpreting both ports as "Port 1" and reporting "Port 1" to iLO 5. However, the MAC address displays unique and can be used to identify the ports. For the iLO 5 incorrect NIC information, instead of viewing the IML for removing/reinserting cable events, refer to the OS logs or view the physical LED indication.
