Advisory: HPE B-Series Switches - HPE SANnav Management Portal and Global View 2.2.0 Migrates The License To An XML Certificate

Last update date:

2/28/2024

Affected products:

HPE Storage SANnav Management Software

Affected releases:

No affected releases provided.

Fixed releases:

No fixed releases provided.

Description:

Info

HPE SANnav Management Portal 2.2.0 and HPE SANnav Global View 2.2.0 and later use a license certificate (XML file). Earlier versions of HPE SANnav use a license key (text string). These license keys are not supported by HPE SANnav 2.2.0 and later. During migration to HPE SANnav 2.2.0 from an earlier version, the existing license key is automatically converted to a license certificate. Any previously issued and installed license key will not work in HPE SANnav 2.2.0 and later.

Scope

This advisory applies to HPE SANnav Management Software.

Resolution

During migration to HPE SANnav Management Portal 2.2.0 or HPE SANnav Global View 2.2.0, HPE SANnav sets the existing license key to the "Released (Active)" state. When the new HPE SANnav 2.2.0 is started up, SANnav attempts to connect to the Broadcom licensing portal and, if successful, converts the existing license key to a new XML license certificate. In sites that do not allow the HPE SANnav server to have outside access to connect to the Broadcom licensing portal, the existing license key is automatically rehosted. The Rehost key is valid for 30 days. During this 30-day period, you must obtain the Rehost key (HPE License Transfer Key) and Server UID (HPE Locking ID) from the HPE SANnav licensing page. These need to be provided to HPE Support so a new XML license certificate may be generated. After upgrading to HPE SANnav Management Portal 2.2.0, verify if your license has been automatically migrated to the certificate format. Licenses that have automatically migrated will show status of "Active". License that have not been automatically migrated will show a status of "Active/Released", and a Rehost key will be present. If the license status is Active/Released, provide the Server UID (HPE Locking ID) and Rehost key (HPE License Transfer Key) to HPE Support to get a new XML license certificate generated within 30 days to continue using HPE SANnav. Steps to verifying the License Migration after upgrading to HPE SANnav 2.2.0: Log into HPE SANnav 2.2.0. Click on SANnav, and then select Services > SANnav Licensing to view the license list. Click the down arrow at the right of the license row, and then click View to display the license details page. HPE SANnav displays the license information. If the status is shown as Active , your license has been migrated to the XML certificate and no further action is needed for the migration. If the status is Active/Released , a Rehost key will also be present. Copy the Server UID (HPE Locking ID) and Rehost key (HPE License Transfer Key) for later use. Provide the Server UID (HPE Locking ID) and Rehost key (HPE License Transfer Key) to HPE Support for generation of a new license certificate. To install the new license certificate provided by HPE Support, return to the HPE SANnav Licensing page and click on the + in the upper right to add the location of the new License certificate. Full license installation steps are provided in the SANnav Management Portal and Global View User Guides.
