Description:

Info

On HPE servers running a Microsoft Windows Operating System and configured with any of the HPE Pensando Distributed Services Platform Cards listed in the Scope section below; the Windows driver displays an exclamation point (also known as a yellow bang) when the host has 8GB of memory. When this occurs, the driver installation will complete successfully; however, depending on the amount of host memory available, some controller interfaces may reserve more memory per interface than is required and may fail to load, displaying a "code 0xa" error in the Device Manager. The issue is experienced on hosts with 8GB of memory and 6 or more Ethernet interfaces loaded with default settings. The issue severity can be affected by the following interface parameters: Receive buffers. Jumbo packet size. Number of RSS queues.

Scope

Any HPE platform running a Microsoft Windows Server Operating System, and configured with any of the following HPE Pensando Distributed Services Platform Cards: Pensando Distributed Services Platform DSC-100 100Gb 2-port QSFP28 Card (P37690-B21) Pensando Distributed Services Platform DSC-100 Cloud-Service Providers 100Gb 2-port QSFP28 Card (P41852-B21) Pensando Distributed Services Platform DSC-25 10/25Gb 2-port OCP3 Card (P37687-B21) Pensando Distributed Services Platform DSC-25 Cloud-Service Providers 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 Card (P41849-B21) Pensando Distributed Services Platform DSC-25 Enterprise 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 Card (P26966-B21)

Resolution

As an alternative, increasing the physical memory to 16GB will alleviate the immediate issue. However, systems hosting Enterprise/cloud software should follow recommendations for suitable amounts of memory per host to enable the expected condition, scale, and performance of the system as a whole. This advisory will be updated when a future driver release resolves this issue.
