Document Version Release Date Details 2 July 7, 2022 Revised the Resolution section. 1 March 11, 2022 Original Document release. An issue occurs with some SN3700M and SN3700cM switch interfaces 1/1-1/8 and 1/25-1/32 and SN4600cM switch interfaces 1/1-1/32 running-config viewing when a "Miscellaneous other settings" section is shown appended near the end of the startup running-config. This issue can be observed immediately after first power-on execution of the start-up wizard or by bypassing the startup wizard and going to the CLI. The show run CLI command can confirm the presence of "Miscellaneous other settings," which indicates there is a manageability issue. An example of the symptom on a SN3700cM is shown below: ## Miscellaneous other settings ## internal set modify - /iss/config/vcm/interface/129/fec value uint8 4 ... internal set modify - /iss/config/vlan/interface/129/switchport/mode value string access ... internal set modify - /iss/config/vlan/interface/189/switchport/pvid value uint16 1 internal set modify - /iss/config/vlan/interface/189/switchport/scope value string ignore ## ## Persistent prefix mode setting ## cli default prefix-modes enable This issue has occurred on some SN4600cM, SN3700M, and SN3700cM switches during the manufacturing process when installing ONYX-3.9.2110 on both flash partitions. When a switch is affected by this issue, SN3700M and SN3700cM interfaces 1/1-1/8 and 1/25-1/32, and SN4600cM interface 1/1-1/32 configuration cannot be seen in the running configuration file. The CLI interface configuration and show commands are effective, and the switch functions correctly. However, not being able to see the interface running configuration makes switch management difficult. An example of the running configuration not showing interface configurations for interfaces 1/1-1/8 and 1/25-1/32 is shown below. Notice that no information is shown for interfaces 1/1-1/8 and 1/25-1/32 even though they have been configured and are properly functioning: switch-741e92 [standalone: master] (config) # show run ## ## Running database "initial" ## Generated at 2022/03/06 16:46:46 +0000 ## Hostname: switch-741e92 ## Product release: 3.9.2110 ## ## ## Running-config temporary prefix mode setting ## no cli default prefix-modes enable ## ## Interface Ethernet configuration ## interface ethernet 1/9-1/24 flowcontrol receive on force interface ethernet 1/9-1/24 flowcontrol send on force ## ## VLAN configuration ## vlan 2 interface ethernet 1/9-1/24 switchport access vlan 2 ## ## STP configuration ## interface ethernet 1/9-1/24 spanning-tree port type edge ## ## L3 configuration ## vrf definition mgmt ## ## QoS switch configuration ## interface ethernet 1/9-1/24 qos trust port interface ethernet 1/9-1/24 qos default switch-priority 4 interface ethernet 1/9-1/24 qos rewrite pcp Examples of a few CLI commands which may be used to indirectly view the interface configuration: switch-741e92 [standalone: master] (config) # show interfaces ethernet status switch-741e92 [standalone:master] (config) # show vlan switch-741e92 [standalone: master] (config) # show interfaces ethernet 1/1 switch-741e92 [standalone: master] (config) # show interfaces ethernet link-diagnostics

Scope

The following HPE StoreFabric M-Series ONYX switches are affected by this advisory: HPE SN3700cM 100GbE 32QSFP28 Power to Connector (P2C) Airflow Switch (R3B14A) HPE SN3700M 200GbE 32QSFP28 Power to Connector (P2C) Airflow Switch (R5Z74A) HPE SN4600cM 100GbE 64QSFP28 Power to Connector (P2C) Airflow Switch (R6R24A)

Resolution

A disruptive process to "reset factory" after upgrading to ONYX-3.9.3220 or to ONYX-3.10.2202 images, and saving the running configuration, returns the switch to a factory reset state without "Miscellaneous other settings" observed in the running configuration. (config) # reset factory keep-basic Or (config) # reset factory NOTE : ( config) # reset factory keep-all-config preserves the "Miscellaneous other settings" and should not be utilized. The M-series manufacturing process, as of May 2022, installs ONYX-3.9.3220 to resolve this issue, which was introduced with ONYX-3.9.2110.
