Document Version Release Date Details 3 January 22, 2024 Updated with the Resolution with the permanent fixes. 2 August 25, 2022 Updated with additional Resolution information. 1 June 30, 2022 Original Document Release. When applying a server profile that includes an online update for firmware and drivers, the HPE QLogic NX2 10/20 GbE Multifunction driver may not be installed due to missing dependencies necessary for installation. The missing dependencies will cause different behaviors when updating HPE Gen9 and Gen10 systems. For example, with a Gen9 System, the profile will apply without an error message, but the driver will not be installed after performing the update. NOTE : The only way to determine if the driver has not installed will be to manually check to see the driver version; for example: Gen10 Systems : After performing the update on a Gen10 system, the profile will apply and the following error message will be displayed: "The firmware update operation failed. Resolution Please retry the firmware update. If the problem persists, contact your authorized support representative with a support dump" Note : The failure is due to missing dependencies but the message does not indicate the reason for the failure or the right corrective action to take. For instance, the issue in the examples above occurred on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems using an errata kernel. The dependencies needed can be determined by viewing the log output in the sum_log.txt, as shown below: Analysis started Component Filename: kmod-netxtreme2-7.14.76-1.rhel7u9.x86_64.rpm Component Name: HPE QLogic NX2 10/20 GbE Multifunction Drivers for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 x86_64 Dependency failed. Its installation requires one or more of the following that is not currently installed or in the install set: - kernel(pci_cleanup_aer_uncorrect_error_status) - kernel(pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting) - kernel(pci_disable_pcie_error_reporting)
Any HPE OneView managing HPE Gen9 and Gen10 systems with any Linux operating system. Note : This issue may occur when using Linux Errata kernels.
This issue is fixed in HPE Integrated Smart Update Tools (iSUT) 3.0.0 release. For download information, access the iSUT checksums page. Update the HPE QLogic NX2 10/20 GbE Multifunction driver and any other drivers to fix this issue. It is also fixed in HPE OneView 8.40 or later. Update to OneView 8.40 or later. Re-install the required dependencies before attempting to reapply the profile. As a workaround, after determining which necessary dependencies are missing, install the missing dependencies and re-apply the server profile in OneView. Note : If RHEL 7.0 is the operating system in use, view the sum_log.txt to determine what to install. For instance in the example above, the missing dependencies will be installed by installing the HPE Synergy QLogic NX2 10/20 GbE Multifunction Driver for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.9 Errata Kernel Version 3.10.0-1160.36.2 (or later).
