Description:

Info

An HPE M-series switch operated with ONYX-3.9.3210 or ONYX-3.9.3220 may experience a 10/25G port fail to completely reach the up state when an optically attached 10/25G adapter is power cycled or rebooted while the switch port remains up. The attached adapter, when power cycled or rebooted, must disable the Tx optical power to create a condition for the M-series switch port to hang when Tx power is re-enabled by the attached adapter. This hung switch port issue can be resolved by performing an “interface ethernet shut/no shut” operation and also resolved by operating the switch with ONYX3.9.2110, ONYX 3.10.2202, and later revisions. This NVIDIA spectrum firmware issue is listed in the Onyx for HPE M-Series Ethernet Switch Release Notes Software Version 3.10.2202 , Bug Fix section, Item 20. In rare cases, the system gets stuck when a peer port goes down. A port link state machine gets stuck issuing remote faults to an attached 10/25G adapter. The port 10/25G speed is not resolved, regardless of the switch port speed configuration of 10G, 25G, auto, or no-autoneg. This issue was introduced in NVIDIA spectrum firmware built into ONYX-3.9.3210 and ONYX-3.9.3220 and operated on a 10/25G port.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in ONYX-3.10.2202 and later versions. After upgrading to ONYX-3.10.2202 or later image, and saving the running configuration, this issue will not occur. Should upgrading to ONYX-3.10.2202 or later image not be in the scope at this time, continuing to operate ONYX-3.9.2110 may be considered. Alternatively, the CLI or WebUI may be used to shut/no shut an affected switch port to recover the operational port up state.
