If the HPE Hard Disk Drive (HDD) firmware versions are earlier than version HPD8 for the HDD models listed below in the Scope section. HPE recommends updating to the latest firmware to prevent potential drive failures or increased rates of predictive failures from occurring.
Scope
Any of the following SAS Hard Disk Drive (HDD) models: HPE 600GB SAS 12G Enterprise 15K 3yr Wty 512e EH000600JWHPH HDD HPE 900GB SAS 12G Enterprise 15K 3yr Wty 512e EH000900JWHPK HDD HPE 300GB SAS 12G Enterprise 15K 3yr Wty EH000300JWHPL HDD HPE 600GB SAS 12G Enterprise 15K 3yr Wty EH000600JWHPN HDD HPE 900GB SAS 12G Enterprise 15K 3yr Wty EH000900JWHPP HDD
Resolution
HPE strongly recommends updating to firmware version HPD8 to prevent a chance of failures or predictive failures from occurring. To prevent this issue if the HDD firmware is earlier than version HPD8, update to firmware version HPD8. Select the correct link according to the operating system: EH000900JWHPK and EH000600JWHPH Online HDD Flash Component for VMware ESXi - EH000900JWHPK and EH000600JWHPH Drives Online HDD Flash Component for Linux (x64) - EH000900JWHPK and EH000600JWHPH Drives Online HDD Flash Component for Windows (x64) - EH000900JWHPK and EH000600JWHPH Drives EH000900JWHPP, EH000600JWHPN and EH000300JWHPL Online HDD Flash Component for VMware ESXi - EH000900JWHPP, EH000600JWHPN and EH000300JWHPL Drives Online HDD Flash Component for Linux (x64) - EH000900JWHPP, EH000600JWHPN and EH000300JWHPL Drives Online HDD Flash Component for Windows (x64) - EH000900JWHPP, EH000600JWHPN and EH000300JWHPL Drives A replacement may be necessary if the HDD does not recover after the firmware update for HPD8.
