HPE StoreOnce Systems
No affected releases provided.
No fixed releases provided.
Connecting and/or disconnecting SAS data cables to the HPE StoreOnce system while the capacity upgrade enclosure has power applied may result in the filesystem suddenly going offline and Data Services reporting a Critical status in the HPE StoreOnce Management Console, which could potentially lead to data loss. The HPE StoreOnce Systems user guide for software version 4.3.2 incorrectly states that online and offline storage expansion is viable. The HPE StoreOnce Systems installation guide and HPE StoreOnce Systems capacity upgrade guide make no reference to expanding online or offline. NOTE : The HPE StoreOnce 3660 96TB Capacity Upgrades are supported only in OFFLINE mode. Ensure that the server and enclosure power is OFF before performing capacity upgrades.
This issue affects HPE StoreOnce 3660, 5260, and 5660 System capacity upgrades.
When performing capacity upgrades, the HPE StoreOnce system should be powered off when SAS data cables are connected or disconnected. IMPORTANT : The offline upgrade should be done only after upgrading to 4.3.2. Documentation on performing capacity upgrades offline will be updated with the HPE StoreOnce System Software version 4.3.4 release. Refer to the "Important considerations when installing capacity upgrade kits" section for offline storage expansion. Referencing the HPE StoreOnce 3660, 5260 and 5660 System Capacity Upgrade Guide : Follow the instructions for adding expansion drive enclosures for your specific HPE StoreOnce system. IMPORTANT : Skip the "Cable guidelines" section at this step. Do not connect SAS data cables to the storage controller ports yet. Perform a graceful system shutdown from the Management Console. Complete the "Cable guidelines" section of guide. Ensure that the SAS data cables are connected to the correct storage controller ports. Power up the HPE StoreOnce system. Follow the instructions in the "Completing the storage expansion" section.
