Description:

Info

On HPE ProLiant Gen11 servers, Intel VROC (NVMe) Redfish storage management may not function under the following conditions: Using Intel VROC (SATA) Using an operating system that does not support Redfish management Using any Linux operating system with Secure Boot enabled Note : Intel VROC (NVMe) Redfish storage management refers to the GET, POST, PATCH, and DELETE along with Events that are hosted by the Intel VROC (NVMe) drivers thru the HPE Integrated Lights-Out 6 (iLO 6) Redfish API using a DMTF technology known as PLDM for Redfish Device Enablement.

Scope

Any HPE G11 Intel-based server configured with Intel VROC (NVMe). Intel VROC (NVMe) supports Redfish storage management with the following operating systems: UEFI The OS supported list ( Intel document link ) for platforms with Gen4/Gen5 Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors using VMD 3.0 and those OS the OOB agent is available (Refer to G11 VROC UG for RDE support) Note : Other operating systems (including ESXi) and Secure Boot settings support Intel VROC (NVMe) but without Intel VROC Redfish storage management. Under these conditions, HPE iLO6 will host a read-only Redfish storage management that represents only the NVMe drives and not the RAID volumes. When VROC RDE does not function, Intel VROC controller and associated RDE data will not be displaued in the iLO Storage tab and AHS. And the “Intel VMD Controller” status may display as “Unknown”.

Resolution

As a workaround, perform any of the following: Use the Intel VROC (NVMe) Redfish storage management while the server is running (pre-boot) UEFI Use an operating system and secure boot setting that supports Intel VROC (NVMe) Redfish storage management Use the read-only iLO 6 Redfish storage management This advisory will be updated when additional information is available.
