On HPE OneView 8.10, when running an offline mode of firmware update with HPE Synergy 480 Gen11 server modules, the HDD/SSD flash components may fail to be included in the list of components to install or may fail a firmware update or flash for a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) or Solid State Drive (SSD) attached to an HPE Smart Array P416ie-m Controller. When this issue occurs, the HDD/SSD version will display as the previous firmware version in inventory. The issue can affect all configurations for HDD/SSDs attached to the Smart Array P416ie-m Controller, so this issue is limited to SAS/SATA drives. This issue does not occur with any configurations of NVMe drives.
Scope
HPE OneView for HPE Synergy 8.10 managing HPE Synergy 12000 Frame and HPE Synergy 480 Gen11 Compute Modules with any Hard Disk Drive (HDD) or Solid State Drives (SSD) for the SAS/SATA of the HPE Smart Array P416ie-m SR Controller in the HPE Synergy D3940 Gen10 Storage Module.
Resolution
This issue is corrected by updating to HPE OneView 8.20 or later. Use the online mode to update the HDD/SSD components.
