Document Version Release Date Details 2 July 26, 2023 Updated Resolution with permanent fix. 1 March 31, 2023 Original Document Release. Any of the HPE Gen10 servers and compute modules mentioned in the Scope section below running System ROM v2.76 dated 02-09-2022, may stop responding during boot with a black screen and keep rebooting, when the Intel TXT function is enabled. This was introduced by an Intel TXT drive code change.

Scope

Any of the following servers running System ROM 2.76: HPE ProLiant BL460c Gen10 Server HPE Synergy 480 Gen10 Compute Module HPE Synergy 660 Gen10 Compute Module HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Server HPE ProLiant DL160 Gen10/DL180 Gen10 Server HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 Server HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen10 Server HPE ProLiant DL560 Gen10 Server HPE ProLiant XL230k Gen10 Server HPE Apollo 2000 Gen10/HPE ProLiant XL170r/XL190r Gen10 Server HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10/HPE ProLiant XL420 Gen10 Server HPE Apollo 4510 Gen10/HPE ProLiant XL450 Gen10 Server HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen10 Server HPE ProLiant XL270d Gen10 Server

Resolution

This issue has been addressed with System ROM 2.78 (or later). As a workaround for earlier versions, disable Intel TXT and reboot the server. To disable Intel TXT: From the System Utilities screen, select System Configuration > BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) > Server Security > Intel (R) TXT Support. Select a setting, Disabled. Save the changes. To download the System ROM, perform the following steps: 1.Click the following link: Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support Center . 2.Enter a product name (e.g., " DL380 Gen10") in the text search field and wait for a list of Suggested Products to display. From the Suggested Products list displayed, identify the desired product and select it. 3.The page should refresh to display the "DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE" tab and the components that support the selected product. From the "DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE" expandable filter menus on the left side of the page: -Select the Software Type "BIOS" -Select the Subtype "System ROM" -For further filtering if needed select the specific Operating System from the Operating Environment Type. 4.Locate and select the System ROM 2.78 (or later). Note: To ensure that you have selected the latest version of the firmware/driver, click the Revision History tab to check if a new version of the firmware/driver is available. For more important information, review the Release Notes tab. 5.Click Download.
