On HPE Synergy 480 Gen11 Compute Modules configured with an HPE Synergy 5830c 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter, when applying a server profile with a bootable FC connection, the configured boot LUN will not appear on the host. The following error message will be seen in HPE OneView: As a result, any customer that configures an HPE OneView server profile with an FC boot LUN connection will not be able to boot from the configured FC storage using the HPE Synergy 5830c FC HBA. Starting with HPE OneView 8.2, there is a change on the backend on how HPE OneView handles server profile assignments. This change is causing an issue on the HPE Synergy 5830c Fibre Channel HBA.

Scope

This advisory applies to HPE Synergy 480 Gen11 Compute Modules configured with HPE Synergy 5830c 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in HPE OneView 8.30 or later. Any of the following workaround options can be implemented: Option 1 Shut down the compute module. Go to iLO > Diagnostics > Show System Diagnostics > Restore Default Manufacturing Settings. Power off the server and re-apply the server profile. Below is a screenshot of the re-apply option in the server profile of HPE OneView: Option 2 Power on the server. Enter the RBSU by pressing F9 during POST. Restore defaults in the System default options > Restore Default Manufacturing setting. Power off the server and reapply the server profile. Option 3 Manually scan FC targets. Assign the newly discovered World Wide Name (WWN) to the WWN Datastore Setup menu of the HPE Synergy 5830c FC HBA.
