Document Version Release Date Details 3 September 11, 2023 This issue has also been resolved in HPE OneView for Synergy version 6.60.05 (or later). 2 September 05, 2023 The Resolution section has been updated with the software version containing the solution. 1 August 01, 2023 Original document release. For any HPE Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Module for Synergy, the downlink ports may lose connectivity for a long period of time after making changes to a Logical Interconnect (LI) while the LLDP tagging feature is enabled. This issue occurs when compute modules are configured with Synergy 3820C 10/20Gb Converged Network Adapters (CNAs) running combo image version 7.19.14 (or later). When this issue occurs, the downlink port connectivity will recover without user intervention; however, the recovery process will take a long period of time (up to an hour). Note: Disruption of network traffic may occur when the LLDP tagging feature is enabled for the first time.

Scope

In the scenario described above, the following configuration: HPE OneView for Synergy versions prior to 8.50, and versions prior to 6.60.05. HPE Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Module for Synergy running firmware versions prior to 1.9.2. Compute modules configured with HPE Synergy 3820C 10/20Gb CNAs running combo image version 7.19.14 (or later).

Resolution

To avoid this issue, install OneView for Synergy version 8.50 (or later) OR OneView for Synergy version 6.60.05 (or later). Besides either of the OneView versions mentioned above, also install Virtual Connect module firmware version 1.9.2 (or later). Firmware version 1.9.2 has been included in HPE Synergy Service Pack (SSP) 2023.05.01. These versions can be found at the following link: HPE Synergy Software Releases As a workaround, perform either of the following: Disable Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) tagging in the LI. For additional information, refer to the below link. HPE OneView User Guide for HPE Synergy OR Downgrade the Synergy 3820C CNA to a combo image version prior to 7.19.14. For additional information, refer to the below link. HPE Synergy 3820C 10/20Gb Converged Network Adapter support page OR Update the Virtual Connect module firmware to version 1.9.2 (or later), and configure/update the Logical Interconnect Group (LIG) and LI with the same configuration. Note: Network connectivity interruptions may occur when making any change to the LI, while running Virtual Connect module firmware versions prior to 1.9.2 and using the LLDP tagging feature.
