Document Version Release Date Details 3 January 24, 2024 Updated the Resolution section with HPE Synergy Service Pack (SSP) version 2023.10.01 and later, which contains the fix 2 October 24, 2023 Added URLs for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware ESXi, and HPE Synergy Service Pack in the Resolution section for where to obtain updates for the HBA firmware 1 September 5, 2023 Original Document Release In an HPE Synergy environment with SY480 Gen10 or Gen10 Plus compute modules, an attempt to update the firmware for the HPE Synergy 5830C 32Gb Fibre Channel (FC) Host Bus Adapter (HBA) using HPE Synergy Service Pack (SSP) 2023.05.01 or 2022.11.01 may not complete successfully. After the host compute module reboots, the adapter attempts to update its NVRAM contents and, based on the extent it was able to write in NVRAM, the adapter may not be represented correctly in the UEFI as well as the operating system, or it may be unable to establish a link into the fibre channel network. Scope

This advisory applies to HPE Synergy 5830C 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters using HPE Synergy Service Pack (SSP) 2023.05.01 or 2022.11.01.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in HPE Synergy Service Pack (SSP) version 2023.10.01 and later.
