Document Version Release Date Details 2 March 7, 2024 Updated the Resolution with the permanent fix, iLO 6 firmware v1.55, iLO 5 firmware v2.99, and added HPE Gen11 systems as affected. 1 October 30, 2023 Original Document Release. HPE Broadcom Firmware Package for BCM5741x adapters version 226.1.107.0 (bundled in Service Pack for ProLiant 2023.09 Gen10) is causing HPE OneView to fail server hardware discovery. OneView does a redfish call to get the RDE-capable cards but fails with the following messages: For HPE Gen10 and HPE Gen10 Plus systems: Unable to fully discover the port map information for the server hardware For HPE Gen11 systems: Inventory collection has failed for a few sub-resources Note : HPE Gen11 systems may go into the “Unmanaged Communication Error” state similar to the screenshot below when this issue occurs: This occurs due to a change in the RedFish RDE data structure in the network adapter firmware that HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) is not able to read.
Scope
Any HPE system running HPE OneView and configured with any of the following network adapters: Broadcom BCM57412 Ethernet 10Gb 2-port SFP+ Adapter for HPE (P26259-B21) Broadcom BCM57412 Ethernet 10Gb 2-port SFP+ OCP3 Adapter for HPE (P26256-B21) Broadcom BCM57414 Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 Adapter for HPE (P26262-B21) Broadcom BCM57414 Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 OCP3 Adapter for HPE (P10115-B21) Broadcom BCM57416 Ethernet 10Gb 2-port BASE-T Adapter for HPE (P26253-B21) Broadcom BCM57416 Ethernet 10Gb 2-port BASE-T OCP3 Adapter for HPE (P10097-B21) Broadcom BCM57504 Ethernet 10/25Gb 4-port SFP28 Adapter for HPE (P26264-B21) Broadcom BCM57504 Ethernet 10/25Gb 4-port SFP28 OCP3 Adapter for HPE (P26269-B21) Note : This does not occur on HPE Broadcom Firmware Package for BCM5750x adapters version 224.1.102.0.
Resolution
The issue is resolved in iLO 5 version 2.99 or later and iLO 6 version 1.55 or later. After updating the iLO firmware, perform a refresh in HPE OneView for any servers displaying the error. To download iLO 6 firmware v1.55 (or later) or iLO 5 firmware v2.99 (or later), perform the following steps: Click the following link: http://www.hpe.com/support/ilo5 or http://www.hpe.com/support/ilo6 The page should refresh to display the "DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE" tab and the components that support the selected product. From the "DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE" expandable filter menus on the left side of the page: o For further filtering if needed - Select the specific Operating System from the Operating Environment. Locate and select the HPE Integrated Lights-Out 6 firmware v1.55 or the HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 v2.99 firmware. click the Revision History tab to locate the latest version. For more important information, review the Release Notes tab. Click the Download button.
