On HPE ProLiant Gen10 Servers running Windows Server 2019 or Windows Server 2022, when HPE Smart Array SR Event Notification Service for Windows Server 64-bit Editions Version 1.2.1.67 (or earlier) is installed and configured with HPE Smart Array SR Gen10 controllers running firmware version 5.61 (or later) on RAID configurations, the following "Event ID 24607" may be generated in the Windows System Event Log: 2023/08/17 18:37 Smart Array Events 24607 2023/08/17 18:37 Smart Array Events 24607 "The event information received from array controller P408i-a SR Gen10 [Embedded] was of an unknown or unrecognized class. An excerpt of the controller message is as follows: Surface Analysis Pass started on 2023-08-17, 18:36:42, LDrv=0 Pass=9. This occurs because beginning with HPE Smart Array SR Gen10 controllers running firmware Version 5.61 (or later), new Surface Scan message details are added to the Surface Scan Event Class in the controller firmware, and HPE Smart Array SR Event Notification Service for Windows Server 64-bit Editions Version 1.2.1.67 (or earlier) does not have the support for the new Event messages. Therefore, it will log Event ID 24607 as an unknown class Event.
Scope
Any HPE ProLiant Gen10 server configured with any HPE Smart Array SR Gen10 controllers running firmware version 5.61 (or later) and with HPE Smart Array SR Event Notification Service for Windows Server 64-bit Editions Version 1.2.1.67 (or earlier) installed.
Resolution
This issue is resolved in HPE Smart Array SR Event Notification Service for Windows Server 64-bit Editions Version 1.2.1.68 (or later). Workaround The Event ID 24607 messages do not affect the operation or functionality of the server or the Smart Array controller. The warning message is informational and can be safely ignored.
