Last update date:

Affected products:

HPE OneView

Affected releases:

HPE OneView

Fixed releases:

No fixed releases provided.

Description:

Info

After updating to OneView 8.60 or 8.90, the OneView User Interface (UI) may display the following error message on any managed server: " Unable to get type data An unexpected error occurred ." This occurs due to the lack of a value for the parameter family in the Server Hardware Type of older generation servers. The script in OneView will not be able to handle a null value for the family parameter and the issue will occur when the script is checking all Server Hardware Types.

Scope

HPE OneView version 8.60 or version 8.90 with obsolete server hardware types, such as the following managed servers: ProLiant BL460c G7 ProLiant BL460c Gen8 ProLiant DL385p Gen8 ProLiant DL360p Gen8 ProLiant DL360e Gen8 ProLiant DL380p Gen8

Resolution

This issue can safely be ignored because it has no functional impact to HPE OneView or the servers. The issue is corrected in HPE OneView 8.70. Update to OneView 8.70 or later. However, it may re-occur with OneView 8.90 if the obsolete Server Hardware Types have not been deleted using the method below. Delete Obsolete Server Hardware Types (SHT) The Rest API can be used to correct the obsolete SHT since this occurs in the HPE OneView database. It is recommended to use the Rest API or PowerShell interfaces. NOTE : Before making any changes, create a backup from OneView and download a support dump. Use the Server Hardware Types in HPE OneView API Reference 5800 to find the ones with no value for the property family. The following command can be used to remove the obsolete Server Hardware Types: DELETE https://{appl}/rest/server-hardware-types/{id} This will remove the SHT with a specified URI. A server hardware type cannot be deleted if it is associated with a server hardware or server profile resource. Refer to the Server Hardware Types in HPE OneView API Reference 5800. If the older Server Hardware Type is still in use, contact HPE support and refer to document a00136096.
