Description:

Info

For any HPE Synergy 480 Gen11 compute modules configured with more than one Intel CPU (multi-socket) and two (or more) Marvell-based adapters using Management Component Transport Protocol (MCTP) over System Management Bus (SMBus) support, in rare instances, a firmware update may fail for any components that support the PLDM firmware update. This issue occurs when using the remote flashing method of iLO 6 (the firmware component is uploaded via the iLO 6 repository).

Scope

In the scenario described above, any HPE Synergy 480 Gen11 compute modules running iLO 6 firmware versions prior to 1.55, and configured with the following Marvell-based adapters: HPE Synergy 5830C 32G Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter HPE Synergy 6820C 25/50Gb CNA Converged Network Adapter

Resolution

To avoid this issue, update the iLO 6 firmware to version 1.55 (or later). This firmware version has been included in HPE Synergy Service Pack (SSP) 2024.01.02. These versions can be found at the HPE Synergy Software Releases page. As a workaround, perform either of the following: In the iLO 6 DSE task queue, add a wait task of 5 minutes after the iLO 6 update task. OR Re-attempt the PLDM firmware update using the iLO 6 GUI standalone method. Additional information can be found at the below link.
