Affected releases:

No affected releases provided.

Fixed releases:

Description:

Info

The fan algorithm cannot communicate with the active optical transceiver on some option cards. Specifically with option cards in slots 9 through 13. To ensure full function, it is advised to keep the fan speeds at a minimum of 75 percent.

Scope

Cray XD670 with option cards in slots 9-13 and an optical transceiver

Resolution

Keep the minimum fan speeds at 80 percent when using an optical transceiver. Set the fans using the IPMItool as follows: The command below will set the fan speed to roughly 75 percent: ipmitool raw 0x2e 0x10 0x0a 0x3c 0 64 1 0xC0 0xFF The following command sets it to full speed: ipmitool raw 0x2e 0x10 0x0a 0x3c 0 64 1 0xFF 0xFF The following command sets it back to automatic fan control: ipmitool raw 0x2e 0x10 0x0a 0x3c 0 64 0
