On any HPE ProLiant Gen10 server configured with an HPE Smart Array P824i-p MR Gen10 Controller with firmware version 24.23.0-0048, the array rebuild will not automatically start after a failed drive is replaced with new replacement drive in fault tolerant RAID mode. The new drive will appear as a JBOD: In addition, the array will be "Degraded", and the disk will appear as Missing :

Scope

This advisory applies to the HPE Smart Array P824i-p MR Gen10 12G SAS PCIe Controller running firmware version 24.23.0-0048.

Resolution

To prevent this issue, upgrade the HPE Smart Array P824i-p MR Gen10 Controller to firmware version 24.23.0-0049 from the following link: Online ROM Flash Component for Linux (x64) - HPE Smart Array P824i-p MR Gen10 If the issue already occurred, then perform actions in the following order in the "Elements(s) Actions" section, on the right side of the HPE MR Storage Administrator (MRSA) window, to manually start the array rebuild on the replacement drive. In the Drives > JBOD section, select the replacement drive and click Make Unconfigured Good . The replacement drive is now changed to Unconfigured Good. In the Drives > Unconfigured Good Drives section, select the replacement drive and click Replace Missing Drive . The Replace Missing Drive dialog will display. Select the degraded array to replace the missing drive. The replacement drive is now changed to Configured, status Offline. In the Drives > Configured Drives section, select the replacement drive and click Start Rebuild . The replacement drive is now changed to Configured, status Rebuild. NOTE : When performing the above first two steps exactly as described, the "Start Rebuild" in step 3 will appear under the Element(s) Actions section. Once the rebuild is complete, the disk will appear as Online and the array as optimal.
