On rare occasions, HPE MR416i-a Gen10 Plus controllers on certain HPE ProLiant Gen10 Plus servers and HPE StoreEasy 1660 servers may not be displayed on the Storage Information page of the iLO GUI (even though the controller is installed) and may not show up in the Device Inventory of the iLO GUI during system power-on. In addition, the PCIeInterface.LanesInUse may downgrade from 8 to 4, which can affect the performance of the controller . iLO GUI - System Information - Storage Information Page IMPORTANT : HPE strongly recommends performing the upgrade below at the earliest opportunity. NOTE : If the Programmable System on Chip (PSOC) hardware version is anything other than 0xe, or the PSOC firmware is already at 0x19 with PSOC hardware version 0xe, the PSOC firmware does not require updating again.

Scope

Any HPE MR416i-a Gen10 Plus x16 Lanes 4GB Cache NVMe/SAS 12G Controller (P26279-B21) with Programmable System on Chip (PSOC) hardware version 0xe (decimal 14) and firmware version 0x18 (decimal 24) or earlier. The following HPE ProLiant and HPE StoreEasy servers support the HPE MR416i-a Gen10 Plus controller: HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen10 Plus server HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Plus server v2 HPE ProLiant DL345 Gen10 Plus server HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 Plus server HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 server HPE ProLiant DL365 Gen10 Plus server HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Plus server HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 Plus server v2 HPE StoreEasy 1660 32TB SAS Storage with Microsoft Windows Server IoT 2019 HPE StoreEasy 1660 Storage with Microsoft Windows Server IoT 2019 HPE StoreEasy 1660 64TB SAS Storage with Microsoft Windows Server IoT 2019 HPE StoreEasy 1860 Performance Storage with Microsoft Windows Server IoT 2019

Resolution

Download and install the HPE MR416i-a Gen10 Plus controller PSOC firmware from the following URLs to prevent this issue: PSOC6 Firmware Flash for Windows - HPE MR216i-a and MR416i-a Gen10 Plus Tri Mode Controllers PSOC Firmware Flash for Linux(x64) - HPE MR216i-a and MR416i-a Gen10 Plus Tri Mode Controllers PSOC6 Firmware Flash for ESXi7.0 and 8.0 - HPE MR216i-a and MR416i-a Gen10 Plus Tri Mode Controllers Steps : If this issue has already occurred, reboot the server to recover the MR controller. Perform the following steps to prevent this issue from occurring: Download and run the appropriate Smart Component listed above to update the PSOC firmware. Gracefully shut down the server from the Operating System. Smart Components from the above URL will auto AUX power cycle the server. Wait for one (1) minute and power up the server again to activate the new PSOC firmware. Run the appropriate Smart Component again to ensure that the PSOC firmware version is 0x19(i.e., decimal 25). NOTE : The Smart Component displays “PSOC firmware is already up to date” if the firmware version is already 0x19e.
