On an HPE server running VMware, if a Hypervisor environment (VMware ESXi, Nutanix AOS, etc.) has devices that are connected to HPE Storage Controllers with passthrough mode activated, the HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) web interface Storage page System Information > Storage tab may display the slot information as "Unknown":

Resolution
This is working as designed and does not affect functionality on an HPE server running a Hypervisor environment (VMware ESXi, Nutanix AOS, etc.) that has devices that are connected to HPE Storage Controllers when the controller's passthrough mode is activated.
