Attempts to deploy the VMware ESXi Operating System (OS) with a Server Profile created on HPE OneView for VMware vCenter (OV4VC) will fail on a bare metal HPE Synergy Gen11 server. When the administrator using the Deployment feature under the Plug-in in vCenter - HPE OneView for VMware vCenter is used, then the appropriate OS Build Plan is initiated for the Deploy OS action: The Server Profile with necessary connection will be created in OneView and can be confirmed on the Activity of OneView. The task will be completed successfully in vCenter. The deployment operation of the Synergy Gen10 Plus server is not impacted. However, from the Console of the compute server, the OS deployment will show as failed to succeed. There are no other error indications to identify this issue.
Any HPE Synergy Gen11 servers that are managed through HPE OneView for VMware vCenter (OV4VC) application and deployment of the VMware ESXi operating system.
This issue is fixed by updating to HPE OneView for VMware vCenter (OV4VC) 11.6.0. As a workaround, to successfully deploy ESXi through the OV4VC "Deployment" feature, use the steps below. Perform these steps: For Synergy Gen11 servers, manually create the server profile with required boot settings. Using the "Deployment" option, select the server and generate the ESXi deployment. After the deployment is completed, add the host manually to the cluster through vCenter. Note : If the inconsistencies are reported for the switch configuration, contact HPE Support. To do this, the cluster will also need to be imported into HPE OneView for cluster management.
