Affected releases:

Description:

Info

On any HPE Synergy Compute Module configured with an HPE Synergy 3820C 10/20Gb Converged Network Adapter (777430-B21), with HPE OneView version 7.20 (or later) and HPE iLO 5 version 2.72 (or later) installed; when an HPE OneView profile is assigned to a server that contains the HPE Synergy 3820C 10/20Gb Converged Network Adapter in an attempt to configure the physical WWN addresses for the adapter, the network adapter will incorrectly configure its fibre connections with a "00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00" string instead of the actual Physical World Wide Name (WWN). The following example was taken from the "HPE iLO System Information > Network" page: Additionally, if there are boot targets configured through HPE OneView, the network adapter will update all of its targets with the same target WWN and LUN ID instead of just one. As a consequence, any defined zoning that includes the server (initiator) will be invalid and the server will fail to boot from the zoned volumes.

Scope

Any HPE Synergy Compute Module configured with an HPE Synergy 3820C 10/20Gb Converged Network Adapter (777430-B21), with HPE OneView version 7.20 (or later) and HPE iLO 5 version 2.72 (or later) installed.

Resolution

As a workaround, create a new profile using virtual WWN addresses. This advisory will be updated when a future network adapter firmware version with the fix becomes available.
