In a rare occurrence, during a server Power-On Self-Test (POST), a watchdog timer may be activated, resulting in an HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) or iLO 6 reset. When this occurs, an increased fan noise will be observed. The following stack trace will be recorded in the iLO Event Log when this occurs: Watchdog activated on romchf_daemon, pc 01781174, sp 00004b68 R0-31 R1-98 R2=4bd8 R3=0 R4-1000 R5-182d8 R6-4d46c R7-4c08 R8=1b6 R9=4d46c R10=4bd8 FP=0 IP=4ba0, SP=4b68 LR=182d8

Scope

Any HPE system with iLO 5 or iLO 6.

Resolution

The issue is targeted to be addressed in a future firmware release of the iLO 5 and iLO 6 firmware. This advisory will be updated when additional information is available.
