For any HPE platforms running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.9/9.3 and configured with the network adapters listed in the Scope section below, mana_ib module warning messages may be displayed when manually installing HPE Mellanox RoCE driver 23.10-1.1.9.1. This driver version has been included in Service Pack for ProLiant version 2024.04.00.00. The HPE Mellanox RoCE driver 23.10-1.1.9.1 can also be found at the below links. HPE Mellanox RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet) ConnectX-4, ConnectX-5 and ConnectX-6 Driver for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 (x86_64) HPE Mellanox RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet) ConnectX-4, ConnectX-5 and ConnectX-6 Driver for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 (x86_64) When installing the above driver via Smart Update Manager (SUM), mana_ib module warning messages will not be displayed to the user. The mana_ib module is a third-party kernel module designed for Microsoft Azure Network Adapters. The mana_ib module in-distro driver (also known as an inbox driver) has a dependency on the in-distro versions of ib_core and ib_uverbs kernel modules. Upon updating the Mellanox RoCE driver to version 23.10-1.1.9.1, the ib_core and ib_uverbs kernel modules will be updated to a newer version. Consequently, the mana_ib modules which are dependent on these modules will experience a stack incompatibility, resulting in the warning messages illustrated below. When this issue occurs, events similar to the following will be displayed: Warning: #rpm -Uvh kmod-mlnx-ofa_kernel-23.10-OFED.23.10.0.5.5.1.rhel8u9.x86_64.rpm mlnx-ofa_kernel-23.10-OFED.23.10.0.5.5.1.rhel8u9.x86_64.rpm Warning: kmod-mlnx-ofa_kernel-23.10-OFED.23.10.0.5.5.1.rhel8u9.x86_64.rpm: Header V4 RSA/SHA256 Signature, key ID e6d6a281: NOKEY Verifying... ################################# [100%] Preparing... ################################# [100%] Updating/ installing... 1:mlnx-ofa_kernel-23.10-OFED.23.10.################################# [50%] 2:kmod-mlnx-ofa_kernel-23.10-OFED.2#################################[100%] depmod: WARNING: /lib/modules/4.18.0-513.5.1.el8_9.x86_64/kernel/drivers/infiniband/hw/mana/mana_ib.ko.xz needs unknown symbol mana_create_wq_obj depmod: WARNING:/lib/modules/4.18.0-513.5.1.el8_9.x86_64/kernel/drivers/infiniband/hw/mana/mana_ib.ko.xz needs unknown symbol mana_cfg_vport depmod: WARNING:/lib/modules/4.18.0-513.5.1.el8_9.x86_64/kernel/drivers/infiniband/hw/mana/mana_ib.ko.xz needs unknown symbol mana_gd_destroy_dma_region depmod: WARNING:/lib/modules/4.18.0-513.5.1.el8_9.x86_64/kernel/drivers/infiniband/hw/mana/mana_ib.ko.xz needs unknown symbol mana_uncfg_vport depmod: WARNING:/lib/modules/4.18.0-513.5.1.el8_9.x86_64/kernel/drivers/infiniband/hw/mana/mana_ib.ko.xz needs unknown symbol mana_destroy_wq_obj depmod: WARNING:/lib/modules/4.18.0-513.5.1.el8_9.x86_64/kernel/drivers/infiniband/hw/mana/mana_ib.ko.xz needs unknown symbol mana_gd_send_request
