After configuring a ProLiant server blade with an HP NC522m Dual Port Flex 10 10GbE Multifunction BL-c Adapter and VMware ESX 4.1 and installing the Insight Management Agents Version 8.5.1, the NC522m Adapter is not displayed in the NIC box of the System Management Homepage (SMH). However, the HP NC522m Dual Port Flex 10 10GbE Multifunction BL-c Adapter information is displayed in the expansion bus as an Ethernet controller and the NIC information is displayed correctly under the network adapter link in Virtual Infrastructure (VI) Client. The issue occurs under the following conditions: Configure the ProLiant server blade with the HP NC522m Dual Port Flex 10 10GbE Multifunction BL-c Adapter. In the ROM-Based Setup Utility, select PCI Devices and observe that the information for the NC522m adapter is displayed as an Ethernet Network controller. Install VMware ESX 4.1 on the server. After the installation completes, install the Insight Management Agents 8.5.1. Log into SMH and observe that the NC522m ports information is not displayed in the NIC box of SMH. Note: However, the NC522m adapter is displayed in expansion buses as an Ethernet Controller. Log into the VI Client and observe that NIC information is displayed correctly under the under the network adapter link.
Scope
Any ProLiant server blade running VMware ESX 4.1 with Insight Management Agents Version 8.5.1 when the configuration includes an NC522m Ethernet adapter.
Resolution
A future release of the Insight Management Agents will allow the NC522m to be displayed in SMH. This advisory will be updated when additional information is available. As a workaround, the NIC information can be viewed as an Ethernet Controller under the Expansion buses of SMH. OR Log into the Virtual Infrastructure Client (VI Client) and observe that the NIC information is displayed correctly under the network adapter link.
