Document Version Release Date Details 2 03/26/2012 Updated to provide a solution to the issue. 1 08/16/2010 Original Document Release. There is a delay in displaying MIB data when issuing an snmpwalk command through Integrated Lights-Out 2 (iLO 2) or Integrated Lights-Out 3 (iLO 3) after installing Insight Management Agents for VMware Version 8.70 (or earlier). The following error message may be displayed at the command prompt: Error on SnmpMgrRequest 40 In addition, there may be times that the SNMP data requested from the host will not be displayed. This occurs due to a communication delay between iLO 2 or iLO 3 and VMware ESX 4.x. The default timeout used by certain snmpwalk tools may not be sufficient to collect SNMP pass-through request through iLO on VMware ESX.

Scope

Any ProLiant server running VMware ESX 4.x and running the Insight Management Agents for VMware Version 8.70 (or earlier) with Integrated Lights-Out 2 (iLO 2) or Integrated Lights-Out 2 (iLO 3).

Resolution

To prevent the MIB timeout error from occurring, update the Insight Management Agents to Version 9.0.1a (or later) and the iLO 3 Firmware to Version 1.26 (or later).
