Scope
Any ProLiant server running VMware ESX 3.5 and configured with an Intel ICH-7 SATA controller.
Resolution
According to the Knowledge Base article, SATA Controller Support in ESX 3.5 , both the AHCI/SATA mode and the IDE/ATA mode are supported. However, in IDE/ATA mode, ESXi Installable is not supported .
