Description:

Info

Document Version Release Date Details 2 05/02/2013 Updated the advisory to include iLO 4 running on HP ProLiant Gen8 servers. 1 09/15/2011 Original Document Release. The Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) Remote Console keyboard and mouse will not work while Windows MultiPoint Server (WMS) is running in "Normal" mode. Because of the design of WMS, a physically connected keyboard, mouse and monitor are treated as "remote" sessions while Windows MultiPoint Server (WMS) is running in Normal Mode. This behavior causes an iLO Remote Console session to not work properly when iLO Remote Session attempts to gain console control of the WMS station. Video may be displayed, but the keyboard and mouse will not respond. There is NO impact to the correct functioning of iLO remote console while interacting with the BIOS screens, while the server is booting up, or while the server is running in maintenance mode.

Scope

Any ProLiant server running Windows Multipoint Server 2011 and using an Integrated Lights-Out (iLO 2, iLO 3, or iLO 4) Remote Console.

Resolution

HP and Microsoft are investigating future enhancements to the usability of iLO remote console with WMS. This advisory will be updated when more information is available. As a workaround, from the home tab of Multipoint Manger Console, switch the server into "Maintenance Mode" to allow the iLO Remote Console to interact with WMS. User sessions will be disconnected. Changing the server back to normal mode will allow users to connect to the WMS server, but will cause the iLO remote console to stop responding.
