On an HP ProLiant server, if an HP Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) 3 or iLO 4 Command Line Interface (CLI) session is closed abruptly while data is being transmitted, and a new session is opened immediately afterward, the SSH stack may fail to detect that the first session closed. This leads to an inconsistent state that can cause CLI sessions to stop responding. The following steps can lead to CLI session unresponsiveness: Open a CLI session and run show -a command. Close the CLI session prior to command completion. Open another CLI session immediately. The CLI session will be established; however, no commands will complete successfully. When this issue occurs, either or both of the following may be observed: iLO CLI sessions can be established, but no commands will be processed. Output from the commands executed from previous sessions may appear on the new session, and no new commands will be executed.

Scope

Any HP ProLiant server with HP Integrated Lights-Out 3 Firmware 1.00 through 1.28 or HP Integrated Lights-Out 4 Firmware 1.01.

Resolution

To recover from this condition if it has already occurred, reset iLO 4. HP Integrated Lights-Out 3 Firmware Version 1.50 and HP Integrated Lights-Out 4 Firmware Version 1.05 correct this issue and are available as follows: For iLO 3: Click on the following link: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/home Select the appropriate operating system. Click on "Firmware - Lights-Out Management." Locate, download, and install iLO 3 Firmware Version 1.50 (or later). For iLO 4: Click on the following link: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/home Select the appropriate operating system. Click on "Firmware - Lights-Out Management." Locate, download, and install iLO 4 Firmware Version 1.05 (or later).
