NOTE: Confirming the HP ProLiant BL465c Gen8 Server Blade's System Programmable Logic Device firmware (SPLD) is at version 0x40 or later is considered critical to prevent the issue detailed below. HP strongly recommends confirming this before connecting an HP D2220sb Storage Blade to an HP ProLiant BL465c Gen8 Server Blade. Neglecting to perform the required action could lead to unpredictable system behavior, which could potentially result in data corruption or data loss. By disregarding this notification, the customer accepts the risk of incurring these risks and possibly other related events in the future. An issue exists with HP ProLiant BL465c Generation 8 Server Blades running System Programmable Logic Device (SPLD) firmware earlier than version 0x40, where the cache contents on the HP D2220sb Storage Blade may not be backed up during a power outage. When an HP ProLiant BL465c Gen8 Server Blade is paired with an HP D2220sb Storage Blade, the SPLD firmware on the HP BL465c Gen8 Server Blade should be running version 0x40 or later. NOTE: HP D2220sb Storage Blades attached to HP ProLiant BL460c and BL660c Gen8 Server Blades are not affected by this issue. To view the current version of the SPLD firmware on the HP BL465c Gen8 Server Blade: Press F8 during the Power On Self Test (POST) to access the iLO 4 Home Page. Expand the Information directory by clicking the + , and select System Information . Select the Firmware tab. The firmware version is located next to System Programmable Logic Device. Below is an example showing SPLD with earlier firmware that needs upgrading to 0x40 or later:

Resolution

Upgrade HP BL465c Gen8 Server Blades to version 0x40 or later to resolve this issue. To obtain SPLD firmware version 0x40 for the HP BL465c Gen8 Server Blade: Go to: http://www.hp.com/go/hpsc Under Download options, Select Drivers, Software & Firmware . Enter D2220sb in the Search box, and then click Go . Click HP D2220sb Build-to-order Storage Blade . Click on your Linux or Windows operating system version. Click Firmware - System . Under the Current Version column, locate the latest Online Flash Component SPLD firmware. In the Description column of the table, click the title of the SPLD firmware. NOTE: Do not click Download from this screen, as you will not have access to the installation instructions and release notes. Click the Installation Instructions and Release Notes tabs to read these before obtaining the firmware . To download the firmware, click the Download button.
