IMPORTANT : The hard drive firmware updates in the Resolution section below are considered a critical fix and are required to prevent the issue detailed below. HP strongly recommends immediate application of this critical fix. Neglecting to perform the required action could leave the server in an unstable condition, which could potentially result in stale data being sent from the hard drive cache to the controller, resulting in data corruption. By disregarding this notification and not performing the recommended resolution, the customer accepts the risk of incurring future related errors. The specific HP SAS hard drive models listed in the Scope section (below) could potentially encounter a rare data compare issue that can lead to stale (out of date) data being written to the drive, which can result in unexpected data being returned during subsequent read requests. This issue has only been observed in a lab environment under firmware stress test conditions, and has not been reported to date in a customer environment.
Scope
Any HP Integrity, HP ProLiant, or HP Storage system configured with any of the following HP SAS drive models running an affected version of the drive firmware, as listed in Table 1 below. Note : The Option Kits listed in Table 1 do not necessarily contain affected drive models. Multiple Option Kit numbers may be used for each drive model, and multiple drive models may be used for each Option Kit. Only the drive models themselves are affected by this issue. Resolution

For HP Lefthand P4000 SAN Solution, HP D2000 disk enclosures, and HP D2700 backup systems, enter the model of the system and click Search . Select the appropriate operating system. Select either Firmware - SAS Storage Disk . Download and install the latest version of the firmware. Reboot the system to complete the upgrade. Locating the Firmware - Integrity Systems Go to http://www.hp.com/ Select Support & Drivers . Select Drivers and Software . For HP Integrity systems, enter the drive model (for example, "DG0146BAMYQ") for the product and click Search . Select the appropriate operating system. Select the Current Version (for example,"Hard Disk Drive Firmware Release for HP Integrity Diagnostics - G0300FAWJD_EG0146FAWJC_DG0300FARVV_DG0146FARVU_DG0300BAMYR_DG0146BAMYQ" - Version HPDG 25 Apr 2013). Download the Release Notes for installation details. Note: The Integrity offline tool, referred to as ODE + DFDUTIL , may be downloaded under the Diagnostic category for the Integrity Server in use.
