Added the following Note to Resolution: "This issue has only been identified on HP ProLiant ML370 G6 servers." 1 06/17/2013 Original document release. After rebooting an HP ProLiant ML370 G6 server running Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 and configured with an HP RDX Removable Disk Backup System, the Windows Event Log may record the following message: Event ID: 6008: The previous system shutdown at [time] on [date] was unexpected.

Scope

Any HP ProLiant ML370 G6 server running Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 and configured with an HP RDX Removable Disk Backup System.

Resolution

CAUTION: This document contains information about how to modify the registry. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk! The registry should be backed up before modifying it. If the Registry Editor is used incorrectly, serious issues could occur that may require a reinstallation of the operating system. For more information about how to back up, restore, and modify the registry, see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 256986, titled Windows registry information for advanced users . Click here to view Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 256986: ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/256986/ ). Event ID: 6008 is a shutdown tracking event only and can be safely ignored. The operation and functionality of the server is not affected. However, to avoid logging Event ID: 6008, use the Windows Registry Editor to add the following registry key parameter. 1. Open Windows Registry Editor. From Windows Start menus, select Run and enter regedit in the Open textbox. 2. Click Browse . 3. Expand: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Reliability\LastAliveStamp 4. On the Edit menu, click Add Value . 5. Add the following registry key parameter: a. Key Name: TimeStampIntervalData b. Type: REG_DWORD c. Value: Setting the value to 0 prevents the "last alive" time stamp from being logged. d. Click OK . 6. From the File menu, click Exit to close Windows Registry Editor. Note: This issue has only been identified on HP ProLiant ML370 G6 servers.
