The online version 5.30 ROM Flash Components for the Smart Array P220i, P222, P420i, P420, P721m, and P822 controllers is now available for Linux and ESX. These Smart Array controllers are used within the HP D2220sb Storage Blade. This controller firmware version corrects an inadvertent shutdown due to incorrect thermal behavior for certain hard drive models. HP recommends updating to this version if your system is affected by this or any of the other documented fixes contained in this firmware. Fixes in 5.30 Fixed an issue where communication between the HP Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) and the HP Smart Array controller may be lost resulting in an IML entry indicating a failed controller Fixed an issue where, in some cases, incorrect drive temperatures were reported in an HP D2220sb enclosure, resulting in a system shutdown Fixed an issue where VMware might hang when a virtual machine with two or more RDMs used a Smart Array controller to access an HP P2000 G3 or HP MSA 2040 SAN storage device ESX Installation Instructions The cp022803.scexe Smart Component for ESX 5.30 firmware is available for download at: https://downloads.hpe.com/pub/softlib2/software1/sc-linux-fw-array/p46370071/v95488/CP022803.scexe To use HP Smart Update Manager from the HP Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) Offline: Place the HP Service Pack for ProLiant ( HP Service Pack for ProLiant ) on a USB key using the HP USB Key Creator Utility ( HP USB Key Creator Utility ). Place the desired firmware to be updated in the directory /hp/swpackages on the USB key. Start from the newly created HP Service Pack for ProLiant USB key. Follow the HP Smart Update Manager steps to complete firmware update. Remote Online: Place the SPP on a USB key using the HP USB Key Creator Utility ( HP USB Key Creator Utility ). Place the desired firmware to be updated in the directory /SPP20xxxxx/hp/swpackages on the USB key. Mount the USB key on a remote server running Windows or Linux. CD /hp/swpackages and ./hpsum . Click Next . Click Add Single Target . Enter the IP or DNS address of the ESXi host to be updated. Enter the ESXi host credentials (root or administrator username and password) Follow the HP Smart Update Manager Steps and complete the firmware update. To use HP Insight Control for vCenter: Log into the vSphere Client. Select a server or cluster in the inventory tree. Click the HP Insight Management tab. Follow the Insight Control for vCenter steps to update firmware using a Smart Component To update firmware from VMware ESXi operating system on target server: Enable Tech Support Mode on the ESXi host. Login as root (you must be root in order to apply the ROM update). Place the Smart Component in a temporary directory. From the same directory, execute the Smart Component. For example: ./cp022803.scexe Follow the directions given by the Smart Component. Disable Tech Support Mode on the ESXi host. Restart your system if you would like the update to take effect immediately. Linux Installation Instructions The cp022804.scexe Smart Component for Linux 5.30 firmware is available for download at: https://downloads.hpe.com/pub/softlib2/software1/sc-linux-fw-array/p889307071/v95489/CP022804.scexe To update firmware from Linux operating system on target server: Login as root (you must be root in order to apply the ROM update). Place the Smart Component in a temporary directory. From the same directory, execute the Smart Component. For example: ./cp022804.scexe Follow the directions given by the Smart Component. Restart your system if you would like the update to take effect immediately. To use HP Smart Update Manager from the HP Service Pack for ProLiant Offline: Place the HP Service Pack for ProLiant ( HP Service Pack for ProLiant ) on a USB key using the HP USB Key Creator Utility ( HP USB Key Creator Utility ). Place the desired firmware to be updated in the directory /hp/swpackages . Locate Start.html , which is found in the root of the ISO. Open the .html file in a supported browser. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Scope

This Smart Component provides firmware for the following storage controllers used within the following HP D2220sb Storage Blades: Smart Array P212, P410, P410i, P411, P711m, P712m, and P812.

This issue is fixed in HP D2220sb Storage Blade Smart Array version 5.30 controller firmware.
